Creator Spotlight: How CobaTech Gave Their TV a Fresh Start with capybaba launcher
YouTube creator CobaTech tried capybaba launcher, a free, ad-free Android TV and Google TV launcher, and walked through folders, hidden apps, PIN lock, and custom wallpapers.
Welcome back to the capybaba launcher blog.
Today we’re talking about a video that made us smile. CobaTech from Youtube recently made a hands-on video about capybaba launcher, and it covers a lot of what we built this product for. We’ll walk through it together, like a conversation over coffee.
The problem: a TV screen that isn’t clean
CobaTech opens with a question many of you have probably asked yourselves: have you ever turned on your TV only to be greeted by a watch history and watchlists you never chose?
It’s a small annoyance, but it adds up. The screen feels crowded, and it feels like it belongs to someone else.
The solution, CobaTech says, is to replace your TV launcher. capybaba launcher is available on Google Play for Android TV and Google TV, so you can download it straight from the store, or search for it on your TV. Once it’s installed, you can use it as your home screen right away.
A clean interface, and your apps right where you expect them
The first thing CobaTech points out is the clean look. The home screen shows what’s actually on your TV, without the clutter.
Another point is that newly downloaded apps show up on the home screen immediately. CobaTech shares that finding the list of apps you’ve installed can be a hassle on other setups, especially right after you’ve downloaded something. Here, the app is simply there when you need it.
Make it yours: icons, wallpaper, and layout
Next comes personalization, which is a big part of what we love about the launcher. CobaTech shows how to:
- Change app icons to a style you like.
- Change the look of the home screen by following the settings, or use your own images as wallpaper.
- Move apps around. Press and hold an app to move it wherever you want it.
Our brief calls it an Apple TV-style experience: minimalist, highly customizable, and free. You can also adjust colors, and you can upload wallpaper from a URL if you’d rather not transfer files.
Folders: group the apps that belong together
CobaTech then moves on to folders, and the steps are refreshingly simple. Create a folder for the apps you want to group, select an app, choose Add to Folder, and it goes straight in. It’s a quick way to tame a crowded screen, whether that’s streaming in one folder and games in another.
Hide apps, and bring them back anytime
Want an app out of sight? CobaTech shows that you can hide it from the home screen. If you change your mind, go to the Hide apps section in settings and restore it. Nothing is lost, and nothing is permanent.
Privacy: set a PIN
For anyone who wants a bit more privacy, CobaTech demonstrates the PIN feature. Create a PIN first, and from then on, opening a protected app requires it. It’s handy for apps you’d rather not have opened by accident, whether by guests or by little hands.
